The impact of new technology on media industries?
New technology means that the media industry can widely distribute their own individual products due to being able to advertise, market and promote in a range of ways,  unlike in the past. This also means that the consumer can access the product more sufficently because its being distributed in a broader format. However, due to new technology such as internet streaming of films the demand for films being screened at the cinema could decrease massively because it could be deemed "uneccessary" and people may not feel its enitrely needed to go to the cinema when they can illegally watch the film from the comfort of their own home. Consequently, media industries are losing out on money because of the above factor so have to come up with new interesting ways to still attract an audience such as "3D" films etc which give a different feel to the film and a different experience for the audience, something they can not experience at home.

The transformation of distribution and marketing strategies by media institutions?
Technology is constantly on the move and becoming more amazing and also, outstanding. With the impact of new technology effecting all types of business... In some sense it's impacting postively on the media industry. For instance, in the past marketing and promoting would be very standard and also average, such as posters, billboards in local places etc... However, in modern society advertisements are more accessible and also more frequent... The internet has a lot to do with this, not only can the audience watch the trailer for a film on a television but also on the interent on sites such as youtube, IMBd and so on... Websites can be created in order to form an attraction by making a fictional film seem realistic e.g. 'Paranormal Activity'.

"Trending topics" on twitter are a big thing for the public of modern society and a film can benefit if it's a high in deman topic and has a huge hype surronding it.
